Observation

Take a minute to put the busy work aside, pens down, and take a walk to observe your people. Not with a harsh sense of critic but take a view of how your team is shinning. Sometimes we either are so overwhelmed with busy work that has to be completed or issuing constructive criticism we forget to just look around and see our team shine. The people you have put in specific places are there for a reason, they clearly have a gift of some kind that allows them to glorify the Lord with it. Don’t get bogged down on what they need to be doing better, there is a time and place for that, but go office by office and observe them doing what they do well.

It feels good, doesn’t it? To see your team succeed. Take a minute to reflect on what you observed and write down a few notes of encouragement to pass off. It doesn’t need to be long and wordy- short and sweet about what you observed and pass it on the next time you see that team member. You are taking maybe an hour total of your day and building trust by showing up, noticing your team, and taking the time to tell them what they are doing well.
